Tellumat provides innovative technology, services and solutions in ICT, Defence, Energy, and Transport. We require the services of a Technical Project Manager for the Defence and Security division.

Minimum Requirements

  • Electronics Engineering Diploma/BTech/BSc Eng or related degree
  • Post Graduate Project Management qualification
  • Min 10 Years’ relevant experience and 5 years as a Technical Project Manager
  • Experience in managing R&D projects and Engineering resources, in the electronics field
  • Experience in managing product development, which include Software, Hardware and Firmware related principles
  • Experience in managing New Product Introduction (NPI) from development to production
  • Experience in interfacing with international clients
  • Valid South African ID and Drivers licence


  • Worked in a Defence or Aerospace environment
  • Project Management accreditation (PMP or similar)
  • Experience in local and/or international outsourcing of product development
  • Proficient in working with Sciforma


  • In-depth understanding of Project Management processes and best Practice
  • Proven Problem-solving skills
  • Team leadership experience and Management skills essential
  • Must be able to draw up and execute detailed project plans, using project management tools
  • Have the ability to manage and control the project against a defined plan
  • Have the ability to define resource requirements
  • Have the ability to establish, implement and manage project management processes and procedures, including Configuration Management, Change Control, Quality Assurance and Risk & Issues Management
  • Have the ability to establish and implement a team culture within his/her assigned project
  • Have a very good understanding of the Defence Industry with a strong Technical background
  • Have experience in managing a diverse team from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Customer focused with a strong emphasis on service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team
  • Strong technical, planning, documentation, communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness & ability to travel

Key responsibilities

  • Full accountability for the execution of internal as well as customer interfacing projects
  • Initiation, planning, execution, control and closure of all assigned projects (small, medium or large), including development, product supply and system integration projects
  • Execute all projects within strict deadlines, budgets, scope and quality standards
  • Lead, co-ordinate and drive technical team/s
  • Risk management and mitigation
  • Resource management
  • Stakeholder and communication management
  • Investigate and assess trade-off design options, performance, timescales, cost and risks
  • Support Continuous improvement of project management and development processes
  • Financial project planning, reporting and management
